After 6 months in New Zealand, cyclone season is over and we are free to return to the warm waters of the tropics. Not a bit too soon as it was getting chilly in New Zealand. We sail to Fiji with a stop to anchor in the middle of the ocean on the way.
Exploring beautiful South Island by land, including the famous Milford Sound. We explore this mecca for the outdoors and find some of its gems. We find ourselves drawn to the mountains after 18 months spent at sea level.

Leaving Florence, we take our newly acquired car, with bed in the back, on a month long road trip around New Zealand’s beautiful South Island. We explore this mecca for the outdoors and find some of its gems. We find ourselves drawn to the mountains after 18 months spent at sea level.
After 18 months of non-stop cruising, mainly in areas where it is very difficult to obtain spare parts, it was time to haul Florence out of the water and give her some tender loving care. Along with the standard re-anti-fouling we had a long list of items that were easier to do whilst in the boatyard than out cruising. It was a month of long days and hard work.
