Oh Ship, Squalls Calms and Cargo Ships in the Malacca Strait

New Video: Dodging ships and fishing boats sailing through a thunderstorm in the middle of the night. Pirates on one side, fishing boats on the other and in the middle a ship superhighway that we need to cross without getting run down and sunk. Why do we do this? Well after one night of that, one of us almost decided not to do it any more and to give up on sailing around the world. Sailing through an area we had been dreading for months we tackle the Malacca straits. Not the easiest passage we have ever attempted. Sailing Florence around the world and living aboard full time is not easy.

  1. Hi, Just started watching your Youtube channel. I love the way you two film and narrate. It’s always been a dream of mine to sail around the world and I admire those that do.
Hopefully, when my youngest graduates HS in 2 years, I can finally make it a reality. I assume you run into 50+ year olds sailing around the world.

    1. Thank you Mark. Most of our sailing/crusing friends are in their 50s, 60s and 70s. YouTube gives an untrue picture of the cruising community. It’s really a wonderful mix of kindred spirits from a range of backgrounds and nationalities and there are actually very few people in their 20s and 30s who are sailing around the world.
